Natural Language Classifier – allows you to Interpret and classify natural language with confidence.
Dialog – allows you to script a conversation and help walk a user through a process
Retrieve and Rank – allows information retrieval with a machine learning model
Document Conversion – takes documents and ‘chunks them up” into smaller answer units to return as passages

Node.js Foundation Announces Board of Directors - Including IBM!

The Node.js Foundation, a community-led and industry-backed consortium to advance the development of the Node.js platform, announced today the key executives elected to its Board of Directors. Included on the board is our own, IBM VP Open Technology Todd Moore. The Board of Directors represents the broad Node.js community and will guide the Foundation as it executes on its mission to enable widespread adoption and help accelerate development of Node.js and other related modules. 

뇌구조를 닮은 컴퓨터

Edge computing 의 중요성을 예견하는 보고들이 많이 나오고 있습니다. Edge 단에서 생성되는 데이터를 서버 사이드로 모두 가져와서 처리하기에는 전송을 위한 네트워크의 대역폭 성장률 대비 데이터의 생성 증가량이 이를  앞서 가고 있다고 합니다.  특히 이러한 데이터들은 휘발성이 높기 때문에, 즉 그 순간에 처리하지 않으면 그 의미  또는 가치를 상실하게 되기 때문에 그 context가 매우 중요하고 그 순간의 처리가 필요합니다.  당연히 그런 디바이스들은 점점 더 휴대형 형태이므로 저전력에 대한 고려도 매우 중요하구요.

이러한 환경의 컴퓨팅 환경은 기존의 폰노이만 방식의 아키텍처가 아닌 뇌 구조를 닮은 시냅스의 동작형태를 본딴 새로운 컴퓨터 구조에 대한 활발한 연구의 한 동인으로 이해됩니다. 관련 나름 쉽게 설명한 글이 있어 공유합니다.

IBM secures five year AU450M partnership with ANZ bank

ANZ extending its private cloud

Bluemix 환경을 은행권에 도입한 사례가 나오기 시작하네요. Innovation Lab 형태로 IBM과 함께 ANZ 은행이 다양한 형태의 새로운 아이디어를 prototype해보고, 개발 구축하여 빠르게 시장에 대응하려고 한다네요. 

The deal will see ANZ increase its use of IBM software and hardware, build out its private cloud, develop software using IBM Bluemix Platform as a Service (PaaS) and create an Innovation Lab.

As this is a private cloud solution the decision to use Bluemix raises a question as to which version. Earlier this year IBM announced Bluemix Local which enables large customers to run Bluemix inside their own private cloud. This enables them to deploy their own components while taking advantage of the Bluemix PaaS environment for their developers. Banking was one of the area suggested for this and ANZ could now be the poster child for Bluemix Local.

Startup Weekend Incheon이라는 행사를 알리안츠, 필립스, 미래부, 연세대와 함께 지원하게 되었습니다. 대학생들의 열기와 창의적인 생각들, 그 짧은 시간에 무언가를 만들어 내서, C-level의 Judge 앞에서 발표하는 모습을 보며 많은 것을 느끼게 되었습니다.

A good place to start is the documentation about device management in IoTF which can be found here.
If you’re already using Internet of Things Foundation, you’ll notice the changes in your dashboard. You can convert existing unmanaged devices into managed devices by adding a device management agent. We will be providing sample implementations of device management agents, which you can refer to or use as the basis of your own agent.
We will be adding new recipes for device management over the coming weeks, so if you’ve already got experience with using IoT Foundation, you’ll easily be able to start using device management also.

▲ 이화여대-IBM IoT 클라우드 세미나 한국IBM(대표 제프리 알렌 로다, www.ibm.com/kr)은 한국IBM 주최 한국여성정보인협회(권숙교 회장) 주관으로 한국IBM 신사옥 6층 이노베이션 센터에서 이화여대-IBM IoT 클라우드 세미나를 진행한다고 밝혔다. 8월 24일부터 8월 28일까지 5일간 진행되는 이번 세미나는 이화여자대학교 컴퓨터공학과 학생들을 대상으로 클라우드 기반 통합 개발 플랫폼 서비스인 IBM 블루믹스 교육을 제공한다. 한국IBM은 학생들이 IoT, 모바일, 데이터 분석 관련 애플리케이션을 직접 개발하고 테스트해볼 수 있도록 블루믹스를 무상으로 제공한다. 한국IBM은 세미나가 끝난 이후에도 교육 현장에서 블루믹스를 통한 실습을 지속할 수 있도록 지원할 계획이다. 한국IBM 정창우 상무는 “한국 IT의 미래는 인적자원에 있다고 믿는 만큼, 학생들에게 양질의 교육과 툴을 제공하기 위한 아카데믹 프로그램을 강화하고 있다”라며, “글로벌 차원으로 지원되는 IBM 클라우드 아카데미 이니셔티브 프로그램을 통해 국내 여러 대학들과 지속적으로 협력을 확장하며 국내 IT 인재 양성을 위해 노력할 것”이라고 밝혔다. 권숙교 한국여성정보인협회장은 “한국 여성 IT 리더 육성을 위해 산학 협력을 계속 추진할 계획이며, 이를 바탕으로 미래 한국은 물론 전세계 IT를 주도할 차세대 여성 IT 리더가 탄생하길 기대한다”고 밝혔다.

PayFriend is an open source Node.js application running on IBM Bluemix. The premise of PayFriend is simple – you want to have an easy way to see how trustworthy your friends are and send the trustworthy ones money!

All banking actions on the app are conducted using the mock Citi APIs for the Citi Mobile Challenge.
